October CMS v4.2 Release and Official eCommerce Plugin

A major update for our favorite CMS has just been released. Version 4.2 includes quite a lot of improvements worth talking about in more detail.

Meloncart - New eCommerce Plugin

Finally, the official eCommerce solution from the October CMS team has been released. This is an important event for us: we have been following the project for a long time and even participated in beta testing. The first store built on this stack is already in progress! 😎

What We Liked

  • Interface: the admin panel features a truly beautiful UI and well-thought-out UX - working with it is much more pleasant than with Shopaholic.
  • Multilingual Support: during beta testing, we активно provided feedback to the developers regarding localization. As a result, working with languages is more convenient than in WooCommerce. Those who have tried syncing attributes and options across multiple languages will understand. 🙂
  • Better Development Experience: there are no longer unnecessary “layers” like Toolbox (as in Shopaholic) - only the standard October core functionality and Laravel capabilities are used.
  • Support: regular updates from the official team allow us to stay up to date and deliver modern, stable solutions to our clients.

Quick Translations

A new instant translation feature has been introduced. Now you can simply click the globe icon next to a field name, select a language, and enter the translation in a modal window. No more switching locales and reloading the page. Convenient? More than that! 👍

New Data Table Widget

The Data Table widget has been completely redesigned. Working with data is now максимально similar to Excel: you can fill in and edit columns directly in the interface.

Admin Panel Migration to Vue 3

It didn’t even take six years (well, actually it did). The admin panel has now been fully migrated to Vue 3. Along with this, the long-awaited documentation section on Vue components has finally been added.

Fast Relationship Creation

It is now possible to create a related record directly from a dropdown without leaving the current page. This significantly speeds up content management.

Laravel 13

And one more nice detail: version 4.2 already supports Laravel 13, which was released just a week ago.
